EXPO Lake, the water feature at the heart of the EXPO 2016 site, has been filled with water. The lake will be the backdrop to the largest sound and light display in Turkish history when Expo 2016 Antalya opens on 23rd of April. Water from the Aksu Brook to the east of EXPO 2016 Antalya is being pumped to the 8-hectare EXPO Lake. Water is then pumped on from the Lake to the Tehnelli Brook.
EXPO 2016 is creating a habitat at EXPO Lake to illustrate the subthemes of sustainability and biodiversity. To that end, 22 species of water creatures are being released into the water: 12 fish species, 3 types of frog, 2 tortoise species, 2 shrimp species and 1 each of crab, mussel and shellfish.
